I begin my pieces in one of two ways.
The first is by coming across an image or design that reminds me of something or someone personal and adding imagery to it layer by layer until I am satisfied with the composition and combination marks.
I project the images onto wood or paper and decide which material and technique would best suit it.

It's business as usual for the Cesar Chavez School Network, Cesar Chavez Academy and Dolores Huerta Preparatory High, a week after 27 employees were notified their jobs were being eliminated as part of systemwide budget cuts.
Two teaching positions will be eliminated when the semester ends in December.
"Most of the positions (cut) do not impact the educational process," CCA board Vice President Donielle Gonzales said Thursday.

Daniel Santos, who looked dreadful losing a lopsided decision to maligned Yuri Foreman, chose a bad time to turn his back on professionalism.
His poor showing against Foreman obscures some of the fine efforts he has produced in the ring for nearly a decade.
Over the course of his erratic career, Santos has fought and won on the road and as the underdog, claimed a bevy of Alphabet Soup trinkets, and defeated quality fighters like Yori Boy Campas and Antonio Margarito.

Absolutely and emphatically not.
The school, an experiment in bilingual education, has been open less than 10 years, yet it is dramatically popular with parents, students, and its own teachers.

State Rep. Norma Chávez warned the State Board of Education on Wednesday to include more Hispanics in new history curriculum standards or risk possible budget scrutiny.
Hispanic children make up a majority of the early elementary grades in the state's public schools, and the proposed standards give them precious few role models, the El Paso Democrat said.
"They want to see people like themselves," said Chávez, addressing the board on behalf of the 44-member House Mexican American Legislative Caucus.

The board is currently rewriting the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills test for social studies.
The petitioning group wants additional information in the history books about these minority groups.
